What is Design?

Design is the whole of a product, a part of it, or the decoration on it, consisting of various elements or characteristics that can be perceived by human senses, such as lines, shapes, forms, colors, and textures.

A design is protected within the design registration system only if it meets the conditions of "novelty" and "distinctive qualities."

The exterior appearances of all products produced industrially or by hand can be protected through design registration.

For example, product packaging, patterns on packaging, fabric designs, patterns of ready-made clothing, designs of furniture, designs of machines, and spare parts for vehicles can all be protected through design registration.
